WWE RAW – Why Big E’s Main Event Push Did Not Work – Analysis

2021 had to be the biggest year for the career of Big E. He won the Money in the Bank ladder match, he cashed it in to win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career, he had a number of huge victories including back to back victories over wrestlers like Bobby Lashley. It was a huge year for him.

It was reported that he was used to win the Royal Rumble match in 2021 and was about to challenge a world champion at WrestleMania 37. But for some unknown reasons, WWE postponed his push for a number of months. Maybe they thought he was not ready yet.

But when his push started he was on top of everything. He came to Monday Night RAW and defeated almost every wrestler he faced during the time he was WWE Champion. He literally manhandled Bobby Lashley. And the way Lashley jobbed to E, it looked like that he was going to get buried at WWE. But thankfully he was not but that is a different story.

But for some reason, the main event push of E did not work. WWE tried a lot to put him as a worthy WWE champion. But it was pretty unfortunate that it did not work, and it does not seem like he is going to get another main event push soon. After he dropped the title at Day 1 pay per view event, it looks like his push is gone for good.

There was rumours of him winning the Royal Rumble match this year but not only he failed to win the match but he got a jobber elimination by the hands of RK-Bro. It is pretty much cleared that he is not going to get pushed by WWE anytime soon. It looks like she would once again get pushed as an upper mid card.

But why did WWE gave up on his push? And why his push did not work? He was receiving good fans support from the crowd and on social media as well. But after WWE gave up on his push, it did not seem like anyone is bothered about it.

We believe it was his gimmick. A comedy gimmick is never meant to be taken seriously. It is good for a mid card, but it is never good for a main event push. You just cannot force a wrestler to the main event if he was having a comedy gimmick. And we think that is what happened to E. He was perfect in his game, it was just his gimmick.

For example, Val Venis was a tremendously talented wrestler, but can you imagine him as the WWE champion? We are not talking about the Attitude Era since it was stacked with main event stars. Even in these days, you cannot imagine Val Venis as a WWE champion. And that was because of his gimmick. And this must have been the biggest reason why Big E’s main event push did not work.
