This previous week on Friday Night Smackdown WWE organised a twelve man gauntlet match to determine the number one contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Nearly half of the show was spent on this gauntlet match or these series of matches.
The former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn won the gauntlet match who was the 12th entry of match. He last eliminated Ricochet to win the match and to become the number one Contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship held by Shinsuke Nakamura.
Smackdown – Why Sami Zayn Needs To Win The Intercontinental Championship Right Now
It has not been confirmed yet when the match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn will be organised for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. It can be defended at Friday Night Smackdown next week or later, it can also be organised at the Day 1 pay per view event.
The Intercontinental Championship is one title that has been terribly booked this year. It might have got from consistent booking till WrestleMania 37 but after that, it has been awful. When Apollo Crews won the title at WrestleMania 37 everybody thought he would be a worthy champion.
But that did not happen. He did not get any proper booking after winning the title. When Shinsuke Nakamura won the title he could not get any proper booking either. Instead he mainly focused on a tag team feud. WWE was failing to book proper Tag Team feuds for quite a long time, and here they are forcing their Intercontinental Champion to have a tag team feud instead of any title feud. Everything seems so clueless.
But Sami Zayn on the other hand got better bookings then all the Intercontinental champions of this year combined. We are pretty sure he wins the Intercontinental title he would get better bookings surely. The glory of this title was the Lost ones. Later the title was saved by The Miz. Once again the Championship is dying. Right now, Sami is the perfect person to give the title, he can clearly save it on SmackDown.
The intercontinental championship in WWE is one of the most prestigious titles. It is really difficult to understand why the WWE is not booking this title properly for nearly a year. Why Apollo Crews did not get any proper feud for the title? Why Nakamura is focusing more on Tag Team feuds rather than the title feuds?
Just like the Intercontinental Championship, the United State Championship was terribly booked as well. We hope both of the mid card titles of WWE will receive better bookings in the New Year. WWE seriously needs to give more attention to these two legendary championships.
