WWE decided to unify 2 of their World titles at WrestleMania 38. WWE champion Brock Lesnar went one on one with WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns won the match and he is currently the WWE unified Universal Champion.
This was WWE‘s second attempt to keep two separate World Championships at the same time. The first one lasted 13 years and it was quite fun to see the World Heavyweight Championship at first. But slowly it became irrelevant as the laziness of the creative team of WWE was quite clear.

Why Unifying World Titles Was A Terrible Decision
In 2016 WWE made another attempt to run two different brands with two different World Championships. This one did not even last for 6 years. At WrestleMania 38 WWE decided to unify the two World Championships and book Roman Reigns as an Unstoppable force as the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight champion.
After the news of the unification came out, it became quite clear that WWE will stop brand split. Fans were quite disappointed to understand this. Everyone can could understand that once again WWE is suffering from laziness of the creative team. But a lot of fans were expecting better storylines after the end of the brand extension.

But according to the recent news, WWE currently has no plans of stopping the brand split. It has also been reported that WWE is event planning the draft lottery of 2022 for somewhere later this year. This might have been the reason WWE stopped the unification of the Tag Team championships at WrestleMania Backlash.
If WWE does not want to stop the brand split, then what was the point of unifying that World championships? Why is Vince McMahon so obsessed with Roman Reigns? As long as there where two World Championships, there was a hope of getting to see new main eventers getting built.

But what would they do now? There is literally no one who has a legit chance to get the world title from Roman Reigns. It has been the most abnormal and foolish build ever. We can clearly see in the near future WWE will not be interesting anymore. No one tunes into WWE just to see some mid card build ups.
But there is still hope. Just like WWE did not unify the Tag Team Championship as for now, what if they decide to split the unified World Championships as well? That is the only hope that can save WWE. But if they keep the unified Championship, then we are afraid this could lead to be one of the worst ever creative decisions ever made by WWE.
