John Cena has reacted to the news that WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin will return to WWE at WrestleMania 38. It appears that the former franchise player of the company is seemingly excited to see perhaps the most popular WWE Superstar of all time in his hometown as he returns to ‘Mania after a gap of six long years.

Soon after Steve Austin confirmed that he will be appearing at Wrestlemania 38 to confront Kevin Owens, John Cena shared his thoughts via a post on Twitter which goes as follows,

“Never in the history of #StoneColdFriday did I think I’d see this!! Excited for @SteveAustinBSR, excited 4 the @WWE Universe and I’m excited for #WrestleMania!!!!”

For those who don’t get the #StoneColdFriday hashtag, it is a reference to John Cena’s weekly Stone Cold meme posts on Instagram. The WWE Superstar often posts on Insta on random topics but these Austin memes are typically related to current news from the world of pro wrestling and beyond.

John Cena remains absent from WWE programming

While John Cena and the WWE Universe are all hyped up for Austin’s appearance, he is not expected to wrestle Owens in a proper match at WrestleMania 38. The Texas Rattlesnake although promised Owens, “one last can of whoop-ass” opening at the AT&T Stadium on April 2nd,

“…You want to call this The KO Show, a match, a fight, a brawl, whatever, I will guarantee you this – in Dallas, Texas, where I started my career, at WrestleMania, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is going to open up one last can of whoop-ass on you, Kevin Owens,” Austin said on his promo on social media. “And that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold said so.”

John Cena has recently reacted to Cesaro’s WWE departure with a “Stone Cold Cesaro” meme that was obviously a part of the #StoneColdFriday hashtag. It does mean that he is aware of the ongoing happenings around the WWE. But there’s no update on whether he will be there in Dallas for the Show of Shows.

Roman Reigns defeated John Cena for the Universal Championship to send back to Hollywood. With his film schedule standing in the way, it’s unlikely that the Cenation Leader will be returning for the ‘Mania night.
