For the majority portion of her career in the WWE, Lana was seen managing her real-life husband, Miro fka Rusev. The duo was proven to be a strong ally for over a year, starting from early 2014. The next year, Rusev wanted to get rid of his on-screen manager after dropping the US Title to John Cena.
It was an interesting phase where Lana turned into a babyface superstar who eventually got into a relationship with Dolph Ziggler. The two were used as on-screen pairs to feud with Rusev and Summer Rae. Meanwhile, Rusev and Lana were still offscreen items and thereby were dating. During that feud, they got eventually engaged to be married.
Lana Reveals She Was About To Become A Champion Before WWE Release
A photo of their engagement was leaked on the Internet, ruining the entire kayfabe part of the feud. WWE was forced to call off the storyline without culminating it. Rusev and Lana had to take time off from TV and when they returned, they were back as a couple.
While speaking on Talk Is Jericho podcast, The Ravishing Russian revealed how that unwanted photo of her got out on the Internet. She also claimed that she was immediately removed from television for three months after that photo leak by TMZ as the full blame was forced upon her. In reality, she never dropped it anywhere on the internet.

Lana didn’t intentionally put up her engagement photo
Check out her words to know more about that situation,
“I didn’t even put up a picture, I just sent it to my friends. And then I guess someone leaked it. I never, ever put it up. TMZ got a hold of it. Basically TMZ said we were engaged and so the story got cut and we got blamed for it. Personally, I got blamed. It’s insane,” Lana continued.
“I got in trouble for that. I wasn’t on television for three months. And I was on television straight for two years. I was made to feel it was all my fault. I had to take the blame. And for years I thought maybe it was my fault. For years. And then we did the Bobby Lashley story and I had given Vince my word that I would not take a picture with someone I am feuding with, or send it to anyone.”
Currently, Miro is the TNT Champion in AEW who is having a solid run, there. There are rumors that he is pushing the company to hire Lana on the brand, as well. We will have to wait and see whether the pair will be seen in WWE’s rival brand, as well. But first, she would have to sit out of the no-compete clause put forth by the WWE for 90 days. Only after that, she could sign with any other wrestling promotion.
