The inaugural WWE Day 1 witnessed the beast unleashed in the WWE Championship match who ended up taking away the title. Initially scheduled to compete in the Universal Championship main event match against Roman Reigns, Lesnar received the news that his opponent won’t be able to compete due to COVID-19 restrictions.
That being said, the main event of WWE Day 1 featured a Fatal-5-Way match for the WWE Championship with Big E defending against Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, and Lesnar.
Lesnar nailed F5s on Rollins, Owens, and the former champion Big E in the match but then Bobby Lashley ran down and applied the Hurt Lock on him. Lesnar was almost fading out but then Big E made the save as he planted Lashley with a Big Ending. He then hit an F5 on E to receive the pinfall win and win the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1.

Lesnar wins WWE Title at WWE Day 1 for 6th time
This is Lesnar’s 6th reign with the WWE Championship while he also held the other prime belt in the WWE, the Universal Championship on three occasions. Big E held the belt for 110 days after defeating Lashley for it on the September 13 episode of Monday Night RAW by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract.
As noted above, Lesnar was originally scheduled to main-event the inaugural WWE Day 1 pay-per-view with WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. But heading into the PPV, Reigns announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the day, and hence he had to be pulled from the show.
There’s no update available on when this due Lesnar vs. Reigns match will happen. Since Lesnar has won the WWE Title at WWE Day 1, chances are high that he might make appearances on Monday Night Raw, moving forward. He was reportedly scheduled to feature in a big angle with Reigns and Paul Heyman, to build another Lesnar vs. Reigns bout at WrestleMania 38.
But after what transpired last night, those plans could very well be off the chart, for now. If Lesnar continues to be a part of Raw, moving forward, we believe that Wrestlemania 38 main-event plans will have to be re-written. More updates on the story will unfold on this coming episode of Raw.
