WWE Universal Title match has been made official for the inaugural WWE Day 1 pay-per-view event. Brock Lesnar is back and he’s wasting no time in putting himself into the title picture on the Smackdown brand. Thus, the upcoming PPV will see Roman Reigns defend the Universal Title against his long-term rival in the returnee.
The WWE Day 1 main event match was booked after this week’s SmackDown main event where Reigns retained over Sami Zayn, who became the new number-one contender by winning a Black Friday Battle Royal last week.

But prior to that, it was Lesnar who kicked things off on the show. Zayn interrupted him in the ring, which led to Lesnar convincing Zayn into getting his title shot, right there on the show. Zayn initially wanted to challenge Reigns at WWE Day 1, but Lesnar insisted that the match should take place, later the night.
Lesnar later interrupted Zayn and WWE Official Sonya Deville, who announced that Lesnar would compete at WWE Day 1 with the winner of the SmackDown main event.

Zayn then came out for the main event and cut a promo by thanking Lesnar who came out during the main event to watch the challenger’s back. But Zayn ended up talking some trash about The Beast which forced him to take Zayn out with three German suplexes and then two F5s. Lesnar made his exit after patting Zayn in the back.
The Bloodline – WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos then came out for the main event. Reigns hit Zayn with a Spear and then applied the Guillotine submission to get the squash win in just a few seconds.
Once this match was over, Lesnar vs. Reigns was confirmed for WWE Day 1 as these two continue their ongoing feud. This will be their second match in the ongoing program. Reigns retained over Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia back on October 21 via interference by The Usos. Heyman slid the Universal Title belt into the ring and Reigns used it to take a cheap shot on Lesnar to get away with the win.
