WWE Draft 2021 has now been confirmed to take place next month. After a number of speculations and rumors around the date of the event, WWE has finally come up with an official announcement during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw around the process that will switch things up for the superstars.
A promo aired during the RAW episode from the TD Garden in Boston that officially announced the beginning of the WWE Draft 2021 for the October 1 SmackDown on FOX. It will then be wrapped with the October 4 RAW episode on the USA Network.
The October 1 SmackDown was originally scheduled to take place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, but due to Hurricane Ida, the show was moved to the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The October 4 episode of RAW is now scheduled to take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Possible Reason Behind Big E Becoming New WWE Champion
WWE Draft 2021 date was changed in recent times
The October 4 RAW episode, which is the second night of WWE Draft 2021 was also supposed to be the RAW 30th season premiere. But WWE hasn’t confirmed about it, as of this writing. Per the previous reports, the draft season will also begin the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments for the WWE male and female superstars. There’s also no official update on the same.
Andrew Zarian of Mat Men wrestling podcast reports that Big E winning the WWE title was initially planned for the original WWE Draft 2021 date of RAW. But then it was preponed to this week as WWE wanted to offer something special to their viewers against Monday Night Football. This was also a last-minute decision to increase RAW ratings since AEW Dynamite beat WWE RAW in the 18-49 demo ratings by a very small margin, last week.
Big E was also rumored to be switched to Raw in WWE Draft 2021. However, with the WWE Title win, he is already a part of the red brand as The New Day has reunited on the same brand once again. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods celebrated with him for the title win as Raw went off the air. The group has been apart since the 2020 WWE Draft.
