WWE Extreme Rules 2021 pay-per-view event is reportedly scheduled for Sunday, July 18. While WWE is yet to confirm the show, according to PWInsider, this WWE Network special is going to be the third PPV event following WrestleVotes 37, two months from now. More details of the upcoming show are expected to unfold on WWE programming as time progresses.
Extreme Rules 2021 will reportedly take place from WWE’s current ThunderDome setup at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. All the programming from WWE’s main roster will be carried out from this venue in the foreseeable future and the popular gimmick-based show won’t be different, it seems. Most of the matches on that night are held under special stipulations.

Last year, Extreme Rules pay-per-view was titled “The Horror Show at Extreme Rules” with the main event being Bray Wyatt vs Braun Strowman in a Wyatt Swamp Fight. There’s no word yet on if WWE will present a unique theme for Extreme Rules 2021. Going by the usual schedule of the WWE, this show is likely to be the final pay-per-view event before WWE’s second-biggest show of the year, SummerSlam.
When WWE Summerslam 2021 Could Officially Be Announced
Extreme Rules 2021 will be the final PPV before Summerslam
WWE’s residency at the Yuengling Center could possibly be expiring in early August meaning that Extreme Rules 2021 could be the final WWE pay-per-view to be held in that venue. Anything concrete around SummerSlam 2021 is yet to be announced, but usually, that show takes place in late August. If the recent reports are any indications then WWE will be on the road for the biggest party of the summer.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that the current plan is to hold SummerSlam in front of a live audience like WrestleMania 37. The closed-set with no fans in attendance at the ThunderDome is expected to expire on Monday, August 2. There’s no word on where they could be heading, next. Since SummerSlam is held in late August, it’s likely that it would be held at a new venue.
WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan also indicated earlier this month that the company may drop some big news on resuming touring to announce, sooner. That being said, Extreme Rules 2021 could be the final PPV with the virtual audience.
