Roman Reigns and Finn Balor met in a slugfest during the main event match of WWE Extreme Rules 2021. Both these characters have been undefeated as they headed into the PPV, meaning one of them was likely to suffer a loss, for the first time unless it’s going to be a DQ or count-out result.

At one point, it appeared that Balor’s Demon avatar was going to rally and pick up the win but then something unprecedented happened and he ended up losing the contest.

The finishing sequences of Extreme Rules 2021 witnessed Finn Balor rallying on Reigns as the red light surrounded the ring and the Demon’s music played. Balor hit a drop-kick on Reigns to put him through a table. Then Balor tossed him in the ring while smoke started coming out of the ring.

The Demon hit the top rope as he was about to connect with the Coup De Grace but suddenly the turnbuckle collapsed and he fell to the mat. This gave Roman Reigns the opportunity to connect with a spear and win the match.

Fans weren’t happy with Extreme Rules 2021 main event

Obviously, fans present in the arena were stunned with such a strange finish as they boosed the Extreme Rules 2021 finish. “What type of bush league? How the hell does that happen?!” Smackdown commentator Pat McAfee asked while channeling everybody’s emotion.

That being said, Extreme Rules 2021 marked another successful title defense for The Tribal Chief as he still remains undefeated while this marked the first pinfall loss for Balor’s Demon King in his main roster stint. WWE, literally fed Balor to the reigning, defending Universal Champion knowing that he’s going to lose. With Brock Lesnar lurking around Reigns, there’s no way that the title was going to change hands.

In more news from Extreme Rules 2021, Roman Reigns put up a face mask while he wrestled in between the Columbus crowd. He is well aware of the rising COVID-19 numbers as the Delta Variant could really put him at real risk.

Besides The Head of the Table won a battle with leukemia, less than two years ago which might have left his immune system compromised. This could be the reason as he used that face mask while wrestling in the crowd. Upon coming back to the ring, he took it off, again.
