Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins competed in a Fight Pit Match at Extreme Rules 2022 with a special guest referee in it. The former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Daniel Cormier was the official appointed for Saturday’s WWE premium live event from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the end, he was able to award his former UFC colleague with the submission win.
Brought back at Extreme Rules 2022, the Fight Pit is a unique stipulation that had never been seen on the main roster until now. The ring is surrounded by a steel cage-like structure, that’s far different from the traditional steel cage as a competitor cannot win by escaping. A WWE superstar can only win the match by knockout or by submission, making it more of an MMA-like-bout.

As seen in the match at Extreme Rules 2022, Riddle performed the Showtime Pettis move off the cage while Rollins did a frog splash off a part of the cage. They headed onto the platform above the ring and brawled.

At that point, Rollins threw his opponent with the buckle bomb into the cage. Rollins also hit the pedigree on the platform but Riddle countered with an RKO on the platform before coming off the platform with a floating bro into the ring. The finish saw Riddle put him in a choke and then transition into the Triangle Chokehold, forcing Rollins to tap out to the submission.
Seth Rollins not handling his Extreme Rules 2022 loss well
With that, Seth Rollins lost at Extreme Rules 2022, another loss at a WWE Premium Live Event who isn’t obviously happy with his performance. Seth blacked out his Twitter account as seen in the image below by removing the DP and cover image of his profile.
Rollins has only won two matches at WWE Premium Live Events this year. He defeated Roman Reigns via DQ at Royal Rumble in January. Then The Visionary got his only pin-fall PLE win by defeating Matt Riddle last month at WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
The 36-year-old superstar will have to put his loss from Extreme Rules 2022 behind him fast as he’s scheduled to face Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship on RAW. This came after Rollins brutally attacked Bobby Lashley and Mustafa Ali following their title match.
