Lita made her return to WWE programming starting in January. After an appearance on Smackdown, she had a failed attempt at the Women’s Title at the WWE Royal Rumble event. But she immediately made an impact, the night after Rumble.

Just when the WWE Universe thought that it was going to be a one-off stint for the legendary name, Lita was placed into a big program with the Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch. The two are set to square off in a dream match at WWE’s Elimination Chamber 2022 premium live event set to take place in Saudi Arabia.

In her bygone promos, Lita has already mentioned that she’s absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to wrestle Becky. This is a clash between two generations that some of the fans wanted to see for a long time. But before this match was set up, Lita had an offer from Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling to join the WWE’s rival brand.

Lita was supposed to battle AEW Women’s World Champion

As per the earlier reports, the WWE legend was considered for a solid program for the AEW Women’s World Championship which never came to fruition. Lita discussed her decision to go through the AEW offer during a recent interview with Esquire Middle East. The WWE Hall of Famer firmly believes that AEW is doing great things but she wasn’t the right fit to the fold.

“But ultimately, upon talking to them, it just made me say to myself, ‘But I have all of these things already!’ I have those things with my home that I’ve known for 20 years, with the people that I’ve worked with for 20 years. Basically, I gave them my blessing. I said, I will watch you and I support you. And I want you guys to do great, but this just doesn’t feel like the right fit for me right now.”

In the end, Lita had the will to stick around the WWE instead of joining the AEW brand. A program with Britt Baker in AEW could’ve been great but the program with Big Time Becks is even bigger. She now has the opportunity to become a five-time champion and possibly headline Wrestlemania.
