WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is going to be the next Premium Live Event in the company’s schedule, to be presented on WWE Network/Peacock. But it seems that WWE’s dual world champion won’t be working that night. Speculations were already there that Roman Reigns won’t put his title on the line at the next PLE scheduled for next month.
Now, the official poster of Hell in a Cell 2022 has been updated and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not featuring in it. A new poster has been released for the June event and it has Cody Rhodes featured front and center, as opposed to Reigns who was middled in the previously released poster. The dual champion was previously included in the promotional material for the next WWE PLE.
Conflicting Updates On Roman Reigns Going To A Hiatus In WWE This Summer
Cody Rhodes possibly headlining WWE Hell in a Cell 2022
This could hint that The American Nightmare may very well have replaced Roman Reigns as the main-eventer of the coming event. The poster could mean that Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins III could be the headliner match at Hell in a Cell 2022. The rivalry seemed to have come to an end at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 but that’s not the case as Rollins stomped Rhodes on the announce table on this week’s Raw to continue the program.
The two started feuding at Wrestlemania 38 where Cody Rhodes returned to the WWE after a long gap of six years and defeated Rollins after entering the show as a surprise opponent. His winning streak continued through Raw episodes and then at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 where he again pinned Rhodes via roll-up. But it seems Hell in a Cell 2022 will finally culminate in their rivalry in a big way.
As for Roman Reigns, he is not advertised for any WWE TV tapings or live events for the months of July or August except for Money in the Bank and SummerSlam Premium Live Events. Going by the current WWE listing, it is likely that Roman may be taking a time off (via Wrestling Observer) after the June 24 taping of SmackDown. However, he is expected to wrestle at WWE’s three big stadium shows in July and September.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is going to be the second premium live event following Wrestlemania 38 after which the company will have two separate PPV events in the month of July, that’s Money in the Bank and Summerslam 2022. The annual HIAC tradition takes place at the All-State Arena in Rosemont, Chicago, Illinois.
