Legendary professional wrestler Batista is extending his Hollywood stint as much as possible. Now he is set to star in a new buddy cop film alongside Jason Momoa (The Aquaman in DC Universe), according to a report from Deadline. The official announcement for the film is yet to be made by the production house.
The source noted that MGM is standing close to winning an auction for the untitled comedy action film, which was pitched by Jason Momoa and Batista “all over town” this past week. Jonathan Tropper will be the writer of the movie. The connection between Tropper and the two megastars from Hollywood comes from See, the Apple TV+ drama series featuring the duo.

According to the report, the pitch is for Batista and Momoa to become on-screen brothers “in a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy cop comedy likely to shoot in Hawaii.” The pitch came from an original idea from Momoa, the former WWE Superstar, real name Dave Bautista and Tropper.
Apparently, the film was in the pipeline as the tweet came from Batista, earlier this year, “Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go…Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.”

Batista coming back with Guardians of the Galaxy
Jason Momoa then fueled up the rumors just a few days later during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The untitled buddy cop movie will reportedly start filming in 2023 as Batista is already booked for another Guardians of the Galaxy movie and the Dune sequel.
Batista has been retired from WWE in-ring competition since 2019. His last match was a No Holds Barred contest against Triple H at Wrestlemania 35. Due to the ‘never say never’ concept in the professional wrestling industry, many fans believe the Hall of Famer to come back to action for another match.
Speaking at Zack Snyder’s Justice Con, the six-time world champion put those rumors to rest,
“It’s hard to convince people that I’m actually retired. You have no idea how tough that discussion is. When professional wrestlers retire, they don’t really retire. They kind of retire. But, you know, when the paycheck’s big enough or the event’s big enough, they come out of retirement.
It’s just not that way with me. I exited the business in such a storybook way, I’d never go back. I would never take away from that. I am just done, man. I really got to finish on my own terms and nothing is going to take away from that.”
