Money in the Bank 2022 was about to witness a substantial change in the calendar of WWE premium Live Events, this year. Apparently, WWE is planning to make it an annual tradition where fans could consider it to be the fifth-biggest WWE Network Specials following the regular ‘Big-Four’ events namely Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series.
This is why for the first time ever the gimmick-based event was announced from an outdoor stadium for the first time ever. However, the venue of the upcoming event has since been changed. Money in the Bank 2022 will not take place at the Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium, after all.

Fans who bought tickets for the July 2 event started receiving emails that Money in the Bank 2022 has recently been shifted to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on the same scheduled day. Several fans noted the same using their social media accounts to react to the change. WWE generally runs from the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas but the UFC fight is already booked in that venue for that weekend.

Money in the Bank 2022 was tough to be sold out from Allegiant Stadium
No reason has been given on WWE’s part for the venue change for Money in the Bank 2022 but a lower rate of ticket movement is being indicated to be the reason. SummerSlam 2021 also took place at the Allegiant Stadium and the attendance for that night was 51,326. So WWE had to sell out at least 50,000 tickets for the upcoming night but they realized that may not be possible.
Firstly, Money in the Bank 2022 is not one of WWE’s Big Four pay-per-view events and secondly, they were going up against another UFC fight night during the July PLE. Regarding the previous ticket sales for the event that came a month ago via WrestleTix, it was stated that WWE had sold 16,826 tickets for MITB, with a total capacity initially set up to be over 25,000.
The statistics would seem to indicate that WWE was already planning on scaling down the capacity for Money in the Bank 2022 in comparison to when the company ran SummerSlam at the Allegiant Stadium, last August, their first event in the stadium. MITB 2022 was announced for that venue only a day after SummerSlam took place but now the company may have wanted to play safe by moving it to an indoor venue.
The current capacity for Money in the Bank 2022 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena is currently unknown. The building can fit close to 17,000 fans. AEW Double or Nothing 2019 was hosted in this arena in recent memory that had around 11,000 fans in attendance.
