Cody Rhodes featured in WWE’s latest promotional video for the upcoming Money in the Bank 2022 premium live event. The company is planning something big for this year’s event, as this will go down inside the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now it’s the commercial that caught the attention of the WWE Universe as Cody teased a very interesting angle on the winners.
“One lucky male and female superstar will win the chance to main event WrestleMania,” Cody stated. Initially, this was supposed some sort of unnoticed mistake by the WWE but then the company repeatedly aired the same Money in the Bank 2022 commercial to fuel up the speculations about the original stipulation for the gimmick match being changed.

Usually, the MITB briefcase winners get a title shot at a place and time of their choosing. The cash-in could happen anywhere. But in the ad for Money in the Bank 2022, Cody stressed the fact that those cash-ins could feature in the main event at WrestleMania. Earlier reports claimed that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon added the line in the commercial that the winners of the briefcases would get title shots at the Show of Shows.
Money in the Bank 2022 stipulation was unclear to the higher-ups
According to an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the line left a lot of people within WWE creative “confused” as they were obviously about to go forward with traditional rules for Money in the Bank 2022. It was noted that they had no idea why the commercial aired, first at Wrestlemania Backlash and then continued to air during regular WWE weekly TV episodes.
It was recently made clear internally that the Money in the Bank 2022 briefcase winners won’t be involved in the Mania title matches, after all. The report added nobody backstage in WWE knew why the commercial was not edited when it first aired during WrestleMania Backlash earlier this month, especially after there were so much talks about it.
It was also speculated that WWE initially wanted the fans to think that Money in the Bank 2022 briefcase winners will be getting Mania title shots. It’s also possible that Vince McMahon simply did not want anyone to know about the potential rule change. But multiple higher-ups within the company don’t believe that the rule has indeed changed around the ladder matches.
