WWE Network was made available for the Indian fans as there’s a huge fanbase, out there. A lot of fans in India are subscribers of the amount of YouTube content that the company releases, every now and then. It seems those viewing options have been restricted in terms of how the fans can view WWE content.

According to the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE Network contents are no longer available to Indian fans “in its current form.” The company has sold its rights in India to SONY, their television provider in the country. Hence, the contents will be available on SONY’s own app where other WWE programming can also be seen.

Those fans who already subscribed to the WWE Network in India would be receiving a message upon renewal saying:

“We’d like to inform you that beginning January 2021, WWE Network in India will exclusively be available via Sony LIV. As a result, your current WWE Network subscription will not renew. You can still catch your favorite WWE action on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3 channels. Please check out local listings for more details about when this programming is scheduled in your local area.”

WWE Network already put up some restrictions in the viewing experience for the subcontinent as Raw and SmackDown YouTube videos aren’t fully available for quite some time. They can only be seen through SONY Networks while only a few selected videos are released hours later after Raw, SmackDown, or a PPV airs. The content rights holders are becoming stricter hoping for some more profits, perhaps.

We’ll have to see if this limited capacity of the WWE Network affects the passionate fanbase of the Indian audience. They do have a ton of fans loving pro wrestling, out there. All of them will have to have SONY to view WWE programming. The good news is that some content exclusively for Indian fans is being prepared for months to follow.

WWE Network should be offering a new brand for the world, revolving around India. It was formerly known as NXT India, but a new commercial was revealed and the show will be called Superstar Spectacle. Some familiar faces from NXT including former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal have been featured in it. Filming and airing of the show will soon go down. Stay tuned for further updates on the same.
