WWE NXT India is supposed to be the new branch from the black and yellow brand of the company. Following WWE NXT UK based in the United Kingdom, this one is going to be the next regional brand based on the subcontinent. A dedicated show is expected in due course and it seems the project could be filmed on Friday, January 22, as per the internal information.

Via, POST Wrestling, and Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, it was already mentioned that the WWE NXT India project is expected to get filmed in Florida for a roll-out in early 2021, perhaps in late January.

POST Wrestling now adds that as of this past week, there was a filming date listed on the internal calendar of WWE which is Friday, January 22, with the title of “India Special” or Superstar Spectacle. A photoshoot was also reportedly in the plan.

Although nothing was officially dictated from WWE’s side, we can expect that WWE NXT India will be a new series for WWE and that WWE is going forward with that plan. One source close to the situation indicated that the series could begin with a one or two-night event that would be similar to the model for NXT UK way. It began with a two-night tournament in January 2017, before the weekly series was invented.

Updates on Updates On Upcoming 2021 WWE NXT India Show

As reported back in November, the expectation was that an eight-man tournament would be held for the WWE NXT India project. John Pollock of POST Wrestling then noted on Twitter that WWE has not locked down the name for the new project. “NXT India” could just be the larger idea or a future step with the potential of the tournament/show whichever is being planned.

No confirmed update is available on the talents that would be used for the WWE NXT India project while there are some rumors that a functioning WWE India Performance Center should be up and running by 2022. It obviously depends on how the COVID-19 pandemic situation remains in the upcoming days. Names like Jinder Mahal, The Bollywood Boyz, Indus Sher, Jeet Rama, and others will be featured in this.

WWE NXT India series is expected to air on regional TV in India, along with WWE’s own digital platform of WWE Network. The company currently has a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Networks in India. A new five-year deal between them was announced in March of this year which also includes Sony having the rights to air the WWE Network for its audiences through SonyLIV, which is their own OTT (Over-The-Top) streaming platform.
