Rumors have been running rampant on CM Punk potential coming back to pro-wrestling. He recently showed up in an independent show to perform his finishing move of GTS on a superstar to fuel up the speculations of the fans. Since then, there are a lot of talks going on about him joining WWE’s rival brand All Elite Wrestling promotion. But going by the schedule, it is not happening sooner.
Why CM Punk appeared in an indie show?
The primary thought of hardcore CM Punk fans was that he may intend to join AEW to perform on Double or Nothing PPV on May 25th. But now another show confirmed him on the same day which wipes out the chances of his AEW joining, for now. Plus, we now know what the next public appearance for the former WWE Champion is going to be. But is not coming back as a performer, at this time.
CM Punk will be calling the action for Cage Fury Fighting Championships’ CFFC 75 event in Coachella, California on May 25th. All Elite Wrestling’s first show, “Double Or Nothing” is set on the same date hinting that Punk will not be there. The official website of the CFFC 75 event has informed the appearance for the former Straight Edge leader. It means the promotion has signed him for that one particular night.
This is not the first time that CM Punk has called down the actions for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. He was present in the same role back in December 2018 and stated the following,
“I can’t wait for this opportunity to call the CFFC fights on UFC Fight Pass. CFFC has a long history of putting on exciting fights featuring some of the sport’s up-and-coming athletes. This card is going to be a lot of fun and I’m really excited to have the chance to be a part of it.”
Fans always wanted to see him back in action whereas CM Punk made sporadic appearances here and there in other roles. Prior to that, he had a failed career in UFC, too. The former WWE Champion is in no mood to return to wrestling, at all. Check out his below comments that confirmed his wrestling career end, (courtesy stillrealtous.com)
“I said a bunch of stuff about wrestling, like how I’d never gotten a true offer, this does not mean I want to wrestle. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done with professional wrestling. A lot of people like to be mad at me about that. They make fun of me because I lost my first fight, and that’s fine you’re entitled to your opinion. But you do not own me and I am entitled to do what I want to do and that’s what I’m doing. Wrestling is in the rearview mirror.”
