Roman Reigns was not the only pleasant surprise from Smackdown Live on last night’s WWE Raw. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston followed him up to face Vince McMahon during the opening segment. Lastly, the former champion Daniel Bryan also showed up on the blue brand to shock the WWE Universe. It was the first time ever since Wrestlemania 35 that he appeared on WWE TV.
McMahon introduced a wild card rule
The super heel started his antics just after the return on WWE Raw talking about the travesty that took place at Wrestlemania 35. He lost the WWE Championship to Kofi Kingston who is not worthy of holding the title, as per his view. So he was up for a quick rematch on the show that Vince McMahon a readily accepted. He announced the rematch from bygone April 7th with the WWE title hanging on the balance.
This WWE Championship rematch became the main event of this week’s episode of WWE Raw. Daniel Bryan challenged Kofi Kingston once again after coming back from an injury. Kofi took control of the match at the end part and went for the Trouble in Paradise. But Bryan countered the offense with a drop-kick in mid-air and set his opponent for the Busaiku Kick. Kingston dodged it and went for the finisher. But Bryan countered it into a LeBell Lock. But Kofi came out of it and landed the Trouble in Paradise to pick up the win.
Kofi Kingston successfully retained his WWE Championship with that being said. He ended WWE Raw by celebrating with his title but the chip on his shoulder got bigger with the return of Daniel Bryan. As for now, the WWE Title match is set for Money in the Bank between Kingston and Kevin Owens. But the self-proclaimed GOAT will try to re-insert himself into the title picture, again on Smackdown.
Prior to this, there were numerous rumors around Daniel Bryan ever since Wrestlemania 35 passed by. He may have suffered an injury to the neck that could have threatened his career, once again. Thankfully, WWE doctors cleared him last week to come back into competition. He proved it right by returning to action against Kofi Kingston.
