We have reported it earlier that WWE was dealing with a TV viewership problem that is going down. It is happening ever since the Wrestlemania season has passed by. Despite the Superstar Shakeup, the creative team has failed to hold a steady rating and thus Vince McMahon had to interfere with his ‘genius’ mind. He made an appearance on last night’s WWE Raw to introduce us with a wild card rule. Via this, superstars can alter shows in the near future.
Vince McMahon was the one to kick off WWE Raw, this week. But sooner Roman Reigns interrupted him who was a trespasser being a Smackdown Live superstar. Sooner, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston joined these two in the ring followed by a returning Daniel Bryan. Both these three were stars from the blue brand which made Vince McMahon irate.
He could not figure out what these Smackdown superstars were doing on WWE Raw. So he found out a solution to the problem and introduced the wild card rule to us. The path-breaking rule will allow Superstars from WWE RAW or Smackdown Live to move between brands for “one-night-only appearances”. Vince McMahon three superstars will take the advantage which later changed to four.
Check out more on this from WWE.com who issued the following statement regarding the wild card rule,
“The latest wrinkle in the ongoing Superstar Shake-up emerged this Monday on Raw when Mr. McMahon announced a new “Wild Card Rule” in which a limited number of Superstars from Raw or SmackDown would be invited to cross brand lines for one-night-only appearances, with unauthorized jumps to be penalized by fines or even potential firing.”
Application of the wild card rule already started taking place from last night’s WWE Raw onwards. Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston, Elias, and Lars Sullivan were amongst the Smackdown names who appeared on WWE Raw trying to make their presence felt. Even the two main event matches of the night featured names from the blue brand with the last one being a WWE Championship match. Only time will tell whether this new wild card rule could come handy for the dropping TV rating for the weekly shows of WWE Raw and Smackdown.
