Storyline wise, AJ Styles stated that he popped his shoulder at Money in the Bank. So he was unable to compete in the number one contender’s match for the Universal Championship. Baron Corbin replaced him and took advantage by winning the contest. Prior to that, he attacked AJ Styles from the back ensuring the injury might just get fatal.

“I’ve got something going on with my AC joint. It’s rubbing up against bone and we thought I had a fracture. It may not be the case, which is a good thing. It may require a shot to keep the swelling down. It’s not a major injury. It’s just wear and tear.”
The 2-time WWE Champion ensured the fans that it should not take a long time for him to come back in action. A veteran star like does not want to sit out either and pick up ring-rust issues,

PWInsider.com added that AJ Styles is pretty ‘banged up’ at this moment. He has not been through time-off for a long time. So this hiatus from WWE programming will allow him to get the much-needed rest before he comes back. He is likely to make the comeback before WWE’s storylines for Summerslam kicks off.
