Jan 16, 2017 at 11:42 AM
This week’s Smackdown Live is going to be hosted at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. This is also the hometown of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Hence, the veteran has announced that he will be returning to his home turf with his talk show from the old era, The King’s Court.
This will be his very first appearance on the WWE TV after getting sidelined by the company from the TLC PPV in December 2016. It is still not known who is going to be the guest on the show. But the segment is going to be a major boost to the show, for sure.

We had reported earlier that Jerry Lawler and Lita have been removed from the company. They were an integral part of the Raw, Smackdown Kick-off panel as well as the PPV kick-off shows. However, the tradition got changed and they vanished from the panel after the TLC. The WWE never gave any update why they are no more seen on the panel. But they still are under the WWE Legend’s contract.
Apart from the two of them, the other regular faces of the show i.e. Renee Young and Booker T have been retained. Recently, Jerry opened up about the situation between him and the WWE. He said that he received a phone call from the Vice-President of the WWE production, Kevin Dunn who said they are going to tone down the cost for the pre-shows and hence Jerry’s service were no longer needed.
It sure was an attraction for the audience to see Jerry and Lita analyzing things up for the weekly shows. But the WWE had to pay them extra money to them for the same. As part of the cost-cutting, they decided to remove the two veterans. Below are Jerry’s comments:
“Well, I got a call last week from (Kevin Dunn) … he’s one of the guys that makes the decisions when it comes to TV. He is the guy that is in charge of WWE TV and has been for years. … I got a call from him.
“Apparently, once they moved my job over to the pre-shows and the pre-shows had to absorb my salary and my pay, it made it a very expensive show to produce every week. I guess as Kevin explained to me, they decided to cut back on the pre-show because it was costing them too much money at the time.”
