Back in 2016, the pro-wrestling industry was taken by storm with the news of Paige and Alberto Del Rio dating each other.
It was more than of shocking since the former WWE Champion was married for a long time and had three children from the relationship. He is also almost 38 years of old which makes him older than Paige by 14 years. So, even Paige’s colleagues from the WWE female locker room was shocked with this association.
We have seen in the Total Divas show how the female roster members mentioned him, as the ‘bad boy’ in the company. Perhaps this one characteristic helped him to get along with the anti-Diva of the WWE who is no less while involving into mishaps. So, for the entire time of their relationship they were in the news headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The internet-wrestling circuit also kept trolling these two about their status, all the time. It affected the duo to a certain extent. At one point, Paige was addicted to certain pills to overcome pain, and it affected her health in a bad way.
However, it’s good for her that the relationship is over now and she is back to her home in the WWE. Fans were dying to see her wrestling inside that ring, again.
In a recent interview with Chasing Glory Podcast, Paige noted on the breakup without taking Alberto Del Rio’s name.
Paige’s split up took place really because of hatred. At this point, Del Rio is looking for a retirement planning after getting kicked out of Impact Wrestling promotion. Whereas, Paige already got retired. It was announced on the post-Wrestlemania episode of WWE Raw.
So, while the former Divas Champion will have to spend a lot of time on the road as the new GM. Her partner will keep staying in San Antonio, Texas in her hometown. It will keep them separated for the most part of the year.
The breakup was a process of fix things up in her life. So, she chose to walk away from it. Her father gave the advice telling that she might end up being Amy Winehouse by choosing the wrong path. But, she was wise to get rid of it.
Hopefully, he will entertain us by performing in the squared circle for years to come.
