The 20th anniversary of SmackDown Live got even bigger with WWE’s announcement that The Rock is finally appearing on WWE TV. It was back in 2016 that the former WWE Champion appeared last on WWE TV on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Thereafter, his Hollywood schedule kept him away from the scene for good. But WWE managed to book him for the FOX premiere of the show that he helped to become a brand,
“Finally The Rock has come back to lay the SmackDown on the highly-anticipated FOX premiere. The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment has provided countless SmackDown memories and looks to add another chapter in the blue brand’s FOX debut. Tune in to catch The People’s Champion and a host of other WWE Hall of Famers starting with FOX’s “blue carpet” special at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT this Friday, Oct. 4.”

Rumors were running rampant about the fact that ‘the most electrifying man in sports entertainment’ was back onboard. While some of the speculations mentioned he is making a one-off appearance, some reported that it could be a setup for a Wrestlemania 36 match. So WWE may just put the seeds of his final match on last night’s SmackDown. However, it looked like WWE planned to bury Corbin with perhaps the greatest sports entertainer ever to step foot in the WWE.
