SmackDown is moving to FOX Sports on October 4th which forced the WWE to come up with some interesting moves to make the shift look successful. This is more of a mainstream network in comparison to the USA Network where they have to put a lot of extra efforts to remain successful. So the experiments are on with different moves that include bringing back The Rock on the show.

The first move came from WWE’s part as they declared Eric Bischoff as the new leader of Smackdown Live. It’s a long-time coming for the WCW owner to the big league ensuring that edgier contents should be waiting for us. One of the major duties for the new leader of the blue brand would be to bring back The Rock by any means to garner major attention to the show.

The debut episode of Smackdown Live on FOX Sports takes place on October 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It’s a smart choice considering that WWE wants a packed show with multiple celebrity attendance on that night. Plus, Joe Peisich said on the Barnburner Radio Network that WWE has some big hopes from this debut show in October.
So the automatic choice for them is to bring back The Rock in a Hollywood special night on October 4th. There are still not many rating drawers, quite like him. A return after three years to the WWE programming could be certainly delightful for the fans. However, it does depend on whether The Great One finds a gap from his Hollywood schedule to come back to his home in WWE. Here’s more from the source, (courtesy RingSideNews.com)
“WWE is sort of pushing a panic button and trying to call former guys, new guys, whatever — they’re trying everything here.”
“I have also heard that for the first SmackDown on Fox in LA they’re trying to get The Rock, they are trying to get Brock Lesnar, they are trying to get Ric Flair into it.”

Apart from The Rock in the mind, WWE officials may be trying to give a completely new look to the Smackdown show as it airs from a new home. FOX Sports officials are testing out new cameras ahead of their debut show, as per Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It could lead to the show’s ring look like a boxing match. WWE’s current idea is to present this particular product as “Minor League”. We will bring you more updates on this regard as Smackdown approaches for the brand shift.
