WWE News: Women’s tag team & Intercontinental title match set for Wrestlemania 35

We expected Finn Balor to get a big match at Wrestlemania 35, perhaps with The Undertaker. But as noted by WWE.com, he will have to stay in a rivalry against Bobby Lashley. These two will collide at the biggest event of the year for the Intercontinental Championship. A two-on-one handicap match took place on last night’s show where Finn Balor took on against Bobby Lashley and Jinder Mahal at the same time. The stipulation was if Balor wins, he gets a title shot against Lashley.

It turned out to be a short match where Finn Balor pinned Jinder Mahal via a Coup De Grace to earn his Wrestlemania spot. This added one more title match to the show from WWE Raw. This was not the only match confirmed for the ‘show of shows’, last night. The women’s tag team championship match for Wrestlemania also became official.

Sasha Banks went head to head against Natalya in a match on WWE Raw that got disqualified due to Nia Jax and Tamina’s interference. Beth Phoenix and Natalya also involved creating a brawl. All of them were eyeing the women’s tag team championships which is why WWE.com made a fatal-4-way the matchup official for Wrestlemania 35,

“As the first bearers of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, Sasha Banks & Bayley have vowed to defend their titles anywhere against anyone. And at WrestleMania, they will indeed face just about everyone when they square off against the up-and-coming IIconics, the dominant Nia Jax & Tamina and two Superstars who helped pave the way for the Women’s Evolution, Beth Phoenix & Natalya, in a Fatal 4-Way Match.”

Women’s tag team championships being on the line at Wrestlemania 35 was a confirmed deal. The titles have received the first holders back at Elimination Chamber in the form of Sasha Banks and Bayley. These two fighting champions seemed hell-bent to make the titles look a prestigious one.

So these two vowed to defend the women’s tag team championships against anybody from Raw, Smackdown, NXT or even past. However, lack of proper planning made the ongoing storyline feel irrelevant. But the in-ring return announcement of Beth Phoenix garnered some attention in this context.

After she and Natalya threw a challenge to Sasha Banks and Bayley, their inclusion to the Wrestlemania title match was evident. Also, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay confirmed their names for women’s tag team titles match after pinning the champions on last week’s Smackdown. So there were no doubts that match is going to be a multi-team bout.
