Speculations of seeing WWE’s resident beast Brock Lesnar challenging a UFC competitor has never become true. Previously, there have been rumors of WWE signing stars like Conor McGregor or Daniel Cormier for a legit fight in the wrestling ring. None of them became reality as a third name has appeared on the scene who could turn out to be the next opponent for Lesnar if things go right.

Former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is in talks with multiple major wrestling promotions (including WWE & AEW). According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cain may end up signing up with the WWE. Of course, there’s a big reason why he may opt for the biggest pro-wrestling banner instead of the newly opened promotion.

Brock Lesnar To Become ‘New Face’ Of Smackdown Live

A key factor behind WWE signing the former UFC champ would be to do a match between Brock Lesnar & Cain Velasquez. For those who don’t know, Cain destroyed Lesnar at UFC 121 back in 2010 to win his first UFC Heavyweight Championship. So it will be a rematch between the two in a wrestling ring. This will be redemption time for Lesnar after almost a decade.

During a recent interview with ESPN, Cain Velasquez noted on his future saying the following,

“I love them both. I think obviously WWE is the powerhouse. They’ve had the biggest stars come from there and it’s the most watched wrestling in the U.S. for sure. I love the backstories and the drama, but their wrestling to me — I like more of the Lucha stuff. I like the athleticism, and we do see some in WWE, but as far as wrestling goes, it’s not my favorite organization just as far as the wrestling.

I think AEW is doing some great stuff. I like the talent that they’ve brought in. They have a mix of Lucha, which I think is pretty cool, and something fans are really liking these days. They’re doing a great job in giving the fans what they want as far as the wrestling and I love that they’re doing that.

I like them both for what they are, but I love the way AEW is going, the path they are going. I see big things for them in the future. … If I can, I’d love to do something with them.”

Although he chose AEW stuff over WWE, chances are more likely that he ends up choosing the latter one. At the end of the day, money and attention are what a new signee always looks forward to. Cain Velasquez just can’t let go off a chance to square off against the biggest box office attraction present in the wrestling business, today. We’ve to wait and see what his decision is going to be on this matter that could decide the fate of a huge money-match.
