WWE Night Of Champions 2023 Results Part 1, World Heavyweight Champion Crowned, Big Surprise In Trish Vs. Becky
Match 1 – WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Seth Rollins defeated AJ Styles to become new World Heavyweight Champion
So the earlier reports about Night of Champions were true. They did the worst things possible by not featuring the World Heavyweight Championship as the main event of Night of Champions. One may argue that Roman Reigns’ 1000 day celebration was really important so that it deserved to be on the main event. But such a celebration would have been a better fit on the opening of the night. This unfortunately was a clear burial for the new World title.
About the match, it was pretty fast and entertaining from the first minute. Everybody expected this match to be great, possibly the best match of the night. It featured two of the best athletes of the promotion. There were near falls at the dying moment of the match that made it even more exciting.

The match was booked for twenty minutes. The home crowd was mostly had the back of Seth Rollins. At the end of the match, Seth Rollins hit a Pedigree on AJ Styles after countering a Phenomenal Forearm into a Superkick. Rollins pinned styles with The Stomp. The match was great but honestly, it could have been better.
Match 2 – Trish Stratus defeated Becky Lynch
This was a pretty special match for a couple of reasons. We are seeing Trish Stratus working as a heel after eighteen long years which is pretty cool. And non title women’s matches that actually follows a good storylines is pretty uncommon in PLE or pay per view event. Indeed it was a special match.
The match was booked for fifteen minutes. Trish Stratus’ ring gear somewhat reminded us of her Ruthless Aggression Era ring gear which was pretty cool. Her performance was pretty excellent as well. She is still in an great shape. This was her first one on one match in four long years and she had been excellent.
The early part of the match was totally dominated by Trish Stratus. She had been the perfect heel for this match. Becky Lynch did not have to carry her at all. She should continue working regularly. There were near falls but not enough reactions from them. At the end of the match, Zoey Stark attacked Becky outside of the ring which referee failed to notice. Trish quickly pinned Becky with the Trish Dog. An evil alliance between this duo would be really cool.
