NXT Deadline 2022 was the final premium live event of the WWE schedule for this year and it lived up to all the hype. It featured the introduction of a new match, namely the Iron Survivor Challenge. Both the women’s and men’s divisions had this match to crown new number-one contenders to NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Champion Bron Breakker, respectively.
The rules for the Iron Survivor Challenge Match were declared by WWE hall of Famer Shawn Michaels heading into NXT Deadline 2022. In the match having a 25-minute time limit, a new competitor would be joining every five minutes until all five participants have entered the fray to start the bout.

Until the timer of 25 minutes would be running out, a superstar has to score the maximum number of falls by pin or submission to win the match. The superstars to digest a fall or submit would lose a point and spend 90 seconds in a penalty box.

NXT Deadline 2022: Fall sequences from Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge
In the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline 2022 to determine the number-one contender for the NXT Championship, Grayson Waller defeated Carmelo Hayes, JD McDonagh, Joe Gacy, and Axiom. The sequence of entries was JD, Axiom, Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Gacy. The falls are given below,
Axiom – 2 (Axiom had a roll-up fall on Waller; Then he ended up connecting with the Golden Ratio finisher on McDonagh)
McDonagh – 0
Hayes – 2 (Hayes pinned Axiom for his first fall with a strike followed by a roll-up pinfall over Waller)
Gacy – 2 (Gacy, first submitted Axiom stretching hold and then pinned McDonagh after connecting with a top-rope cutter)
Waller – 3 (Waller pinned double both McDonagh and Axiom with takedowns to score dual falls. Then after Hayes connected with a diving leg drop on Axiom, Waller dragged the latter out of the ring to secure his third fall of the match)

In the finishing sequence of this semi-main event match of NXT Deadline 2022, Waller had the lead after pinning Axiom. Waller then stayed out of the ring to avoid any pinfall or submission attempts. The clock eventually hit 25 minutes after which Waller was named the winner of the inaugural men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, and the new number-one contender to the NXT Championship. Waller also attacked NXT Champion Bron Breakker to end the show.
