Following the sudden release of former champions MSK’s Nash Carter from the contract, WWE NXT tag team titles remained vacant for the past few days. To crown new champions, a huge gauntlet match was announced for this week’s episode and Pretty Deadly capitalized on the opportunity to become the new Tag Team Champions.
This week’s WWE NXT 2.0 episode saw Pretty Deadly’s Elton Prince and Kit Wilson win a Five-Team Gauntlet Match to capture the vacant championships. The other teams in this main event match were Grayson Waller and Sanga, Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde of Legado del Fantasma, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen, and The Creed Brothers.
WWE NXT 2.0 Results (12/04/22): Three Title Matches; WWE Veteran Returns
The Gauntlet bout began with The Creed Brothers competing against Wilde and Mendoza. Julius Creed pinned Wilde to eliminate Legado del Fantasma from the match and the next tag team to enter the Gauntlet was Briggs and Jensen. Brutus Creed would go on to pin Jensen for the next elimination and thereby retain their spots in the match.
Grayson Waller and Sanga entered the Gauntlet match on WWE NXT, but Julius continued the strong run as he pinned Sanga for the elimination. The final team to enter the match was Pretty Deadly as they produced a back-and-forth encounter against The Creed Brothers for several minutes. The Deadly duo hit a double-modified neckbreaker to Brutus for the pin to win the titles.
New WWE NXT Tag Team Title run began, this week
This is the first title reign for Pretty Deadly on the main WWE NXT brand. As noted above, the championships were declared vacant last Friday after MSK’s Nash Carter was quietly released by the WWE after abuse allegations came from his wife Kimber Lee, who is an Impact Wrestling star.
MSK won the titles from Imperium at the recently bygone NXT Stand & Deliver even on April 2. Due to the sudden release of Carter, they could hold the title for 5 recognized days before they were vacated.
Pretty Deadly has recently been included in the WWE NXT 2.0 roster, last Tuesday as The Creed Brothers’ mystery attackers. They were the hooded men who recently vandalized The Diamond Mine Dojo. Back on the NXT UK brand, they used to be known as Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker. They defeated Gallus faction to win the NXT UK Tag Team Titles on the February 25, 2021 episode of NXT UK.
