The main event for the upcoming WWE NXT New Year’s Evil special has been declared. Kyle O’Reilly vs. WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor will go down on that show marking the next title defense for the champion. This match was made official on this week’s episode of NXT which had a new challenger determinant match on the card.
O’Reilly defeated Pete Dunne in that match to become the new number-one contender to the WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor. He nailed a suplex from the apron to the floor on his opponent. Dunne was hanging over the bottom rope with his face down in the mat when O’Reilly went to the top and delivered a flying knee drop to Dunne’s head. O’Reilly thus got the pinfall win.
