In the opening match of NXT Spring Breakin 2024, Roxanne Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a Triple Threat Match to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. At the beginning of the match, Perez and Valkyria’s feud marked the highlights of the match. Perez was able to lock in a crossface on Valkyria, but the latter survived.
Paxley then came from behind and attempted to lock her own crossface on Perez but that attempt was broken by Valkyria. Paxley then dominated Valkyria in the finishing sequence before delivering a 450-splash for a nearfall. Perez thwarted the attempt and offered Jacknight cover to secure the pin-fall win over Paxley at NXT Spring Breakin 2024.

Despite the title retention at NXT Spring Breakin 2024, there are uncertainties over Perez’s status on the NXT brand. Perez has previously wrestled on the main roster, defeating Indi Hartwell on the Raw after WrestleMania XL. The reigning champion has also declared her presence in the 2024 WWE Draft, which will continue from Friday Night SmackDown through the following Monday Night Raw.
Perez captured the NXT Women’s Championship from Lyra Valkyria at the NXT Stand & Deliver premium live event during WrestleMania 40 weekend in Philadelphia. The following Tuesday on NXT, Paxley turned on Valkyria to set up this triple threat at NXT Spring Breakin 2024 which also marked the first title defense for Perez of her second title reign.

In more news from NXT Spring Breakin 2024, Natalya Neidhart and Lola Vice had a Contract Signing segment for their NXT Underground Match set for next week. In the presence of the NXT GM Ava, Vice revealed that WWE Raw roster member, two-time NXT Women’s Champion, and former MMA star Shayna Baszler had been training her ahead of the fight, and will be in her corner next week.
While Baszler will be in the corner of Vice at NXT Spring Breakin 2024 Night Two, Carmen Petrovic will be on Nattie’s side in this NXT Underground match. This is a concept initially created by Shane McMahon in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic, something where the ring ropes are removed. The match type gives a Fight Club-like feel where victories can only be claimed via submission or TKO.
