WWE NXT Takeover – Chicago Review And Results

Just like every NXT Takeover events, it was an amazing event. A total of five action-packed matches with so many jaw-dropping moments, trust us, it was even a better show than WrestleMania 33. Those who did not watch it yet, they should. Such an event should never be missed. Let us talk about all the matches in brief and see what they had to offer from this Takeover.

Match 1 – Eric Young vs. Roderick Strong – Great match up, really well booked and pretty enjoyable throughout. We do not know why the main roster cannot produce such cool matches. They presented Roderick Strong as a really strong force in this match. At the beginning of the match, he tried to take out Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe. But they kept making distractions for Strong. Strong took out the win with quite a dominant fashion. At the end, he took out the Sanity once again and pinned Young with Fireman’s Carry Double Knee Gutbuster.

Winner – Roderick Strong

Match 2 – WWE United Kingdom Championship – Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne – Biggest happiness for the wrestling fans was to have the good old Jim Ross on the commentary table. Yes, Jim Ross was present on the commentary table during the match.

Another excellent match on the card. These are the matches that make NXT somehow better than the main roster. They booked the match for over fifteen minutes which was filled with lots of dramas and jaw-dropping moments. Pete Dunne snatched the win out of this match. Congratulations to Pete Dunne for winning the UK championship.

Winner – Pete Dunne, new champion

Match 3 – NXT Women’s championship – Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross – Another fifteen minutes match but this time it could not impress the fact upon. The match started well, it was going well, but for the last five minutes it turned a little slow. We expected a way better match than this. Triple threat matches are always exciting to watch, but this one was not much impressive. Asuka pinned both Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot simultaneously to win the match. She pinned them with just a simple running knee strike, it looked really lame.

Winner – Asuka, still champion

Match 4 – NXT Championship – Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami – It was more of a technical match, old school wrestling fans would love this match. Bobby Roode kept concentrating on the left leg of Itami. Itami kept fighting back like a great babyface. At the end, Itami hit the GTS even with the injured left leg. Roode fell outside, Itami put Roode back but it was too late to get the pinfall. Itami attempted the GTS again but Roode countered with two back to back Glorious DDTs. It was a very good match. Hopefully, this feud would continue for a little longer.

Winner – Bobby Roode, still champion

Main Event – Ladder Match for the NXT Tag Team championship – The Authors of Pain vs. #DIY – Possibly the first time in the history, tag team championships headlined a pay per view event and rightfully, it deserved to be the main event.

What a match it was! We are just spellbound! NXT just produced another masterpiece. The match was booked for over twenty minutes, and from the beginning, till the very end, it was really exciting to watch. The Authors of Pain picked up the win in a dominant style at the end, but it was okay. #DIY was really great in this match. There were back to back high-risk manoeuvres, it looked like they put their lives on the line.

At the end, there was a big shock! #DIY split up! Tommaso Ciampa turned on Johnny Gargano and beat him down. And it was no ordinary beat down, he totally destroyed his tag team, partner. It was shocking definitely, but it was a terrible decision to split up the #DIY. They were one of the best tag teams of WWE right now, and they split them up? This was possibly the worst decision of the NXT creative team.
