Karrion Kross has become the new WWE NXT Champion during last night’s NXT TakeOver XXX show from the Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. The main event of the night witnessed former champion, Keith Lee, defending the belt against the new import on the NXT brand. But he came up short that appeared to be a huge upset for the WWE Universe.
After initial domination, Lee accidentally went through the Plexiglass barrier which allowed Kross to make a comeback as he hit the Doomsday Saito for a near fall. The Kross Jacket submission was then applied and Lee somehow got out of it.

Lee countered by hitting Kross with the Spirit Bomb. He hit the second rope going for a Vader Bomb but Kross grabbed his legs that were the end-call for NXT TakeOver main event.
Kross then executed the Doomsday Saito from the second rope to secure the pinfall win and become the new NXT Champion. Kross celebrated with girlfriend Scarlett in front of the trainees who were absolutely shocked. NXT TakeOver XXX went off the air with the new champion standing tall as his era has officially begun.

This is Kross’ first title reign in NXT with the prime belt of the division as he had just debuted back in early May. Lee won the title from Adam Cole back on the July 8 NXT TV episode that was also dubbed as the Great American Bash Night II. This was his second title defense which was unsuccessful as he lost it just over a month at NXT TakeOver XXX.
On a related note, the new champion’s night wasn’t a bed of roses, entirely. Karrion Kross has reportedly suffered an injury during the big main event win over Keith Lee at tonight’s “Takeover: XXX” event. WWE.com issued a statement on the same whereas Triple H also addressed the same after the show.
The head honcho hosted a media call after NXT Takeover XXX went off the air to inform it appears Kross suffered a separated shoulder during the match, according to PWInsider.
Kross will be undergoing an MRI to get a better idea of the injury. Triple H also noted that Kross is tough who was able to go through the injury and complete the match. He had immense praise for Kross where he also gave major props to Lee for being the locker room leader.
