As per the earlier reports, some of the top WWE NXT Superstars’ contracts were up for grabs in recent times. Now updates claim that WWE officials reportedly want Kyle O’Reilly to re-sign with the company. Talks are also ongoing that time will be added to the contract of WWE NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa.
Last month, it was reported that Kyle O’Reilly’s WWE NXT contract was set to expire sometime in December. Now, Fightful Select reports that WWE is showing interest in re-signing O’Reilly. They have already approached him for signing a new contract, but there’s no confirmation available on if an offer has been made or the deal has been signed.
It’s been noted that Kyle O’Reilly is among those top WWE NXT talents who passed on new contracts offered in late 2019. The superstar was himself surprised by his contract expiring this soon because WWE often adds updates to superstars’ contracts and extends those for various reasons. WWE officials were well aware of O’Reilly’s contract expiring this month because they looked over the deals this past summer.
In more news, Tomasso Ciampa has had his contract extended due to injury time. The reigning WWE NXT Champion missed around 7 months back in 2019 due to an injury. So there won’t be any hurry of taking away the NXT Championship from him in due course.
Top NXT names set to perform at WWE NXT WarGames 2021
At this point, both O’Reilly and Ciampa are scheduled to compete on tonight’s WWE NXT WarGames 2021 event. The Men’s WarGames Match lineup stands Team Old School (NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, LA Knight) vs. Team New School (Bron Breakker, NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller). The NXT tag team titles match lineup stands Kyle O’Reilly and Von Wagner vs. Imperium (c).

Another top WWE NXT Superstar, Johnny Gargano’s WWE contract was scheduled to expire on Friday, December 3 but he recently signed a one-week contract extension so that he can work the NXT WarGames, a match that he’s never been a part of in his entire WWE career. Hence his WWE tenure comes to an end on Friday, December 10, unless he chooses to re-sign.
WWE already offered a strong contract to Gargano but he is yet to put the pen to paper to make that deal official. Gargano’s wife, Candice LeRae’s WWE NXT contract will expire in May 2022.
