Next Friday’s episode of SmackDown on FOX will be a special “Go Back” edition, as per WWE’s announcement. There’s no update on how WWE plans to carry out the show or what could be in-store but it appears that this should be some sort of throwback version of the show, similar to when the second-longest weekly episodic TV show had started its journey.

During this week’s episode of SmackDown, WWE aired a short trailer for next week’s episode to announce that it will be a so-called ‘Throwback Edition’ as a special attraction. The teaser included Old School World Wrestling Federation contents which used to be part of the programming even before the Friday Night show commenced in 1999.

That being said, WWE seems to have something interesting in store for next week. Since Old School wrestling contents are always welcoming to the hardcore wrestling fans out there, it should garner more attention from the audience. Further information related to the upcoming episode should be let known in due course.

Big rematch booked for next week’s Smackdown

As of now, WWE has announced a WrestleMania 37 rematch for next Friday Night’s SmackDown Old School show – Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins. Last night, Rollins features in a backstage segment to issue a challenge to Cesaro for a fight, which was later accepted, and thus the expected clash will go down, possibly in the main event segment of the throwback edition.

WrestleMania 37 witnessed Cesaro defeat Rollins in a singles contest via clean pinfall which was the biggest victory of his career, as well. Moving on, the Swiss Superman is gunning for a Universal Title shot from Roman Reigns for the past few weeks only to find out that Seth Rollins isn’t done with him. Perhaps, next week marks the proper culmination of the feud.

As seen in recent times, Seth Rollins pounced on Cesaro on a couple of occasions trying to deliver sneak attacks. In the meantime, Cesaro has also been confronting Roman Reigns, teasing a potential title match at WrestleMania Backlash. Now it seems that the King of Swing will have to vanquish The SmackDown Savior, first in order to secure that title opportunity.
