There were indications of a hard brand split previously and most of the fans were only excited about this. But it is pretty much clear on tonight’s RAW that there will be no more hard brand split, instead, we will have a boring soft brand split. There will be no mid card singles championship for women. The women’s Tag Team Champions will rome brand to brand freely.
There is no mention of a different set of Tag Team championships for Friday night Smackdown either. When you have separate Women’s championships and separate World championships for both rosters, why not splitting the Tag Team titles too? We seriously hope WWE does it soon.
WWE RAW 08.05.2023 Ratings & Analysis Part 7
There is one more thing that we failed to understand what is the case of the Women’s Championship? Raw has the SmackDown Women’s title and Smackdown has the RAW Women’s title, and there is no mention of changing hands of the titles either. Why not just change the names of the titles? This would make look things a little better as well.
Rhea Ripley also what her first opponent for the WWE SmackDown women’s championship and it is Natalya. Could not they find someone better when there are young wrestlers like Tegan Nox and Piper Niven? These wrestlers are getting buried badly. If they are given opportunities for the women’s title they could be provided the opportunity to shine.
We all know these young wrestlers are pretty talented, just not getting enough opportunities in WWE. Why they are still booking Natalya on the title picture? She has already crossed 40 and she does not have a huge career left in front of her. Of course she is going to lose, WWE is just wasting time by booking her in such feuds. They should focus more on younger talents.
There is no mention of the Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre either. Since he got drafted to Monday Night RAW, we were all expecting to see him on the tournament for the World Heavyweight championship. We seriously hope he does not leave WWE, and returns as a heel to win the World Heavyweight Championship, like everybody wants him to.
There is another pretty good thing about tonight’s RAW, right now they are focusing on the lower mid card storylines pretty strongly. We guess this is the best part of the proper brand split. Everybody gets to do something. The whole storyline that includes Maxine Dupri and the Alpha Academy is getting pretty interesting. We know they won’t but we seriously hope WWE introduces a lower mid card title so that everybody gets to do something.
One more thing we need to talk about here, in spite they are managing their men’s division properly, once again it looks like they are feeling to build there women’s division. And they do not have enough vision for it either. It made things pretty clear when Natalya stepped up to challenge for The Smackdown Women’s Championship tonight when they had a full roster of young talents. It shows there lack of vision for the women’s division.
The only thing that could save the women’s division of WWE is introducing another title, precisely a mid card title for the women’s division that goes to SmackDown and the Tag Team titles remain on RAW. Women have already proved that they could do what men could given the right opportunity, so they should not be overlooked like this.
Overall, the initial episode of Monday Night RAW after WWE Draft 2023 was not bad but we also expect better shows in the future. A number of things needed to be fixed to make things better as well, like splitting the Tag Team titles and trying to maintain hard brand split. We give this week’s RAW 2.5 out of 5.
