This week’s RAW started as a video package was shown on The New World Heavyweight Championship tournament that started tonight. 12 men from both RAW and Smackdown would compete in this competition which was announced earlier. The video package was also released on YouTube and WWE‘s official site previously.
The show started as the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes came out to the arena to address his match against Brock Lesnar last night at Backlash. The first talked about his victory over Brock Lesnar and then he turned his attention to the new World Heavyweight Championship and claimed that he was going to win it.

WWE RAW 08.05.2023 Results Part 1
So WWE organized a total of four triple threat matches on both brands to crown the first champion. Drew McIntyre was nowhere to be seen in this tournament. Instead we get to see Damian Priest as a part of it who might have been the potential replacement for him. Definitely more wrestlers needed to get to compete for it.
Match 1 –World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarter Final – Seth Rollins defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Damian Priest To Advance

The first triple threat of the World Heavyweight championship tournament took place next where Seth Rollins defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Damian Priest. The match was booked for 10 minutes and it was an excellent match. Throughout it was very entertaining and all three performers did really good. Seth Rollins Nakamura with a Pedigree for the win.
Match 2 – Mustafa Ali defeated Otis

Next up was another match between Mustafa Ali and Otis. This match was booked for only 3 minutes and it was the fun match. Otis was mostly dominating the match but at the end he got confused by Chad Gable and Maxine Dupri. Mustafa Ali capitalised this situation and pinned Otis with the 450 Splash.
Match 3 –World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarter Final – Finn Balor defeated The Miz and Cody Rhodes

The next match of the night was the second match of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament where Finn Balor managed to beat The Miz and Cody Rhodes. This match was not as good as the other triple threat match. Finn Balor pinned The Miz with the Coup De Grace to advance to the Semi Finals.
Cody Rhodes almost won the match but he was pulled out from the ring by Brock Lesnar and the Beast beat him down really badly. Finn Balor took the advantage of the situation and picked up the victory. Brock challenged Cody in a rematch at Night of Champions.
