This week’s RAW started as footage from the Elimination Chamber was shown where Sami Zayn lost his opportunity to win the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns and how at the end he was saved by Kevin Owens from a brutal attack from the Bloodline.
Sami Zayn came out to the arena. The support he received from the fans was a massive, just like always. He said that he let his down at the Elimination Chamber, and he felt really guilty about it. He also said that one chapter of the story is still remaining and he called out Kevin Owens.
WWE RAW 20.02.2023 Results & Ratings
Sami Zayn apologized to Kevin Owens for whatever happened between them in the past. He then said that just like him he wanted the end of the Bloodline. So he offered to team up with him so that they could take down the Bloodline together because none of them could do it alone.
Kevin Owens said that he did not need his apology or gratitude. Whatever he did at the Elimination Chamber was for himself. At Royal Rumble the Bloodline beat him down in front of his family and Sami stood their and watched it. So he helped Sami so that Sami’s family did not have to see him get beaten by the Bloodline like Owens’ family.
He then said that he had been fighting the Bloodline all alone for months and he did not want his help to take the Bloodline down. He said if he really wanted to take the Bloodline down, he should ask his new friend Jey Uso to help him. Owens then left the ring and did not turn back.
Match 1 – Sami Zayn defeated Baron Corbin
After the previous segment, will Sami was going out of the arena, Baron Corbin attacked him and beat him down on the entrance stage. Corbin then entered the ring and started humiliating Sami. Adam Pearce made the match official between the duo. The match went on 9 minutes and it was a pretty competitive match. Sami won it with a Helluva Kick.
Backstage Rhea Ripley was interviewed by Byron Saxton with Dominik Mysterio alongside her. Rhea claimed herself to be the best women in WWE right now. She also revealed that she would be going face to face with Charlotte Flair this week on Friday Night Smackdown. Dominik said she would join her since his father had a match SmackDown and he needed to wish him best of luck.
Match 2 – Mustafa Ali defeated Dolph Ziggler
This was a short two minute long match. In this match we were introduced to a new gimmick of Mustafa Ali where he is a person with full of gratitude towards everyone. This was an interesting heel gimmick. Ali pinned Ziggler with a rollup and left Ziggler surprised.
Next up on RAW was a segment between Cody Rhodes and Paul Heyman which is as good as their previous encounter two weeks ago. This time Paul Heyman was on the big screen where he explain why Roman Reigns is a better man than Cody every way around. Cody at the end claimed to take the titles away from Roman at WrestleMania 39.
Match 3 – Asuka defeated Nikki Cross
This was a good, competitive match and it was booked for nearly nine minutes. Asuka won, as usual but Nikki had her offenses. At the end of the match, Asuka made Nikki Cross submit with the Asuka Lock. Needless to say, WWE RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair was on the commentary table during the match. After the match, they confronted each other inside the ring.
Match 4 – Seth Rollins defeated The Miz
This match was booked for 11 minutes and it was a pretty competitive and good match. The match was not dominated by either wrestlers but at the end, Seth Rollins secured and easy victory for himself as Miz was unable to compete at the end and Seth won the match via referee stoppage.
Next up was the Ding Dong Hello talk show with the host Bayley and the guests were Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. They talked about their excellent Tag Team title reign and claimed themselves to be the best Tag Team Champions ever. They were interrupted by Becky Lynch and Lita and they challenged for the Tag Team championships. At the end of the segment, the match became official. Finally the Women’s Tag Team championships are been defended.
Backstage Candice LeRae was asked about the situation of her husband Johnny Gargano after the brutal match he had at the Elimination Chamber. Nikki Cross was passing by and Candice stopped her and asked her why she had been following her. Nikki Cross whispered something in her ears and left. When Byron Saxton asked what she said, Candice revealed that she was saying that all of her friends are gone and she was completely alone.
Match 5 – Bronson Reed defeated Chad Gable
In this match they continued the storyline between Otis and Maxxine Dupri. Maxxine met Otis outside which distracted Chad Gable and he got completely destroyed by Reed. They also teased a potential feud between Reed and Otis which would be really fun to watch.
Next up was a segment between Elias and Bobby Lashley where Elias started things off by demanding an opponent for WrestleMania 39. Bobby Lashley answered the call, he entered the ring and beat him down. He then said that nobody could break the Hurt Lock, neither Brock Lesnar nor Bray Wyatt.
Match 6 – WWE United States Championship – Austin Theory defeated Edge to retain
The match was really long and it was the best match of the night without any doubt. The storyline between Edge and Finn Balor continued as he cost Edge his title opportunity. Surely the final chapter between them will close at WrestleMania 39. Finn Balor stood tall on Edge inside the ring as this week’s Raw went off air.
Overall it was another average week of Monday Night RAW where there was no World Championship segment, neither any Tag Team Championship. Apart from the first segment of the night between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, there was nothing special. Good to see the women’s Tag Team Championship will be defended next week, finally. We give this week’s RAW 2 out of 5. We are still appreciative with whatever they are doing with all they have for Monday Night RAW.
