This week’s Raw could not surpass the expectations but it was a good show. The final showdown where Braun Strowman suplexed Big Show was an amazing piece of booking. We shall talk about it at the end of this article.
Let us start with all the segments that were booked in this show. The first one was scheduled between Braun Strowman and the on screen Raw general manager Kurt Angle.
Kurt Angle made a match between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns at the RAW exclusive PPV Payback. Braun wanted competition or he threatened to decimate everyone.
Backstage Braun started attacking everyone who came in front of him before he was finally stopped by the Big Show. The whole segment was good. And the build up for the main event was good too. They are building Braun really well. Braun is improving week by week.
Dean Ambrose joined the Miz TV which was potentially the start of a feud between the two. It was anticipated. These two athletes had a feud in Smackdown but they could not continue it for various reasons. But there is a thing; both of these athletes joined Raw last week and the WWE are arranging a feud between them? When you see superstars switching brands, you will surely look for newer feuds.
But it is okay, as their previous feuds could not end properly, we do not have many complaints. We just think they could wait a little longer before rearranging this feud.
About the matches, there were a total of seven matches, among them three were good, and others were nothing special. There was a fatal 4- way match to determine the no 1 contender for the Raw Women’s championship.
It was won by Alexa Bliss. Bliss won the match by really cheeky and heelish fashion. This is a good decision to put over Alexa Bliss. Now, we are hoping to see a good match between Alexa Bliss and Bayley.
Finn Balor had a match despite his injury. The match was more of a squash from Balor over Curt Hawkins. Good to see the Demon King is okay.
Samoa Joe and Chris Jericho had a match which was a little disappointing. When you arrange a match between two world-class athletes, you should give them a little longer booking. Jericho lost the match via submission. It was not a bad look for him, but the overall thing was poorly booked.
Jeff hardy had his first singles match on Monday Night Raw in eight years. He showcased a great contest with Cesaro. It was one of the better matches of the night.
Moving on to the main event between Big Show and Braun Strowman. The match night may not be a technical masterpiece but the ending of the match was just amazing. Braun Strowman superlexed Big Show and it broke the ring which was a very cool thing to see. We do not such things so often.
The ring did not only broke, it completely exploded. It was one of the best moments of this year so far. Fans went really wild seeing this. The match had been called off after this incident. Braun Strowman stood tall in the end as Big Show could not move.
Final Verdict – The show was average. Even though there was an OMG moment which is the only plus point of the show. There were not many promos in the show, not much buildups for the ongoing feuds for Payback either.
We could say, the week was a result of a mainly lazy piece of booking. But the stage explosion saved everything at the end. These things are just once in a lifetime moments.
