WWE Raw April 17, 2017: Results

The show started as last week’s assault of Braun Strowman on Roman Reigns was shown first.

Braun Strowman came out to the arena first. He said that he was proud to say that he broke Roman Reigns in half last week, he also took pride of injuring Roman Reigns. He promised that there will be no Roman Reigns this week.

Kurt Angle stopped him in his tracks. He asked Braun what was he trying to prove. He flipped over an ambulance with Roman Reigns being inside of it. Braun said there were still more to come. Kurt Angle made it official at Payback, Braun Strowman would face Roman Reigns. Braun Strowman did not like it.

It was kind of awkward to see Braun’s reaction. Braun asked for more competition; “I want more competition or else”. Kurt asked or else what. Braun did not say anything and left.

Match 1 – Chris Jericho vs. Samoa Joe

Seth Rollins was shown at the commentary table and it was also announced that Seth Rollins would meet Samoa Joe at Payback. The match was okay. It was more of a squash for Samoa Joe. He locked Jericho in the Coquina Clutch. Jericho survived in it for long before finally tapping out.

Backstage Braun Strowman attacked Goldust and R-Truth and beat them down.

Winner: N/A

Match 2 – Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Enzo and Cass

Gallows and Anderson was actually scheduled to face Golden Truth. As they got driven out by Braun Strowman, they had been replaced by Enzo and Cass. The match was okay, it was entertaining. Karl Anderson pinned Enzo Amore with a unique manoeuvre. He placed Enzo in the Suplex position and threw him to the turnbuckle where his knees directly crashed on the turnbuckle.

Winners – Gallows and Anderson

Backstage Strowman kept attacking people where Big Show pushed him to ground and said to look for people of his own size.

Match 3 – TJ Parkins vs. Jack Gallagher

Austin Aries and the Cruiserweight champion Austin Aries joined the ringside during the match. The match was good. It was an old school style technical match up. TJ Parkins pinned Gallgher for the win. Neville provided a little help.

Winner – TJ Parkins

Match 4 – Fatal 4 Way No 1 contender’s match for the Raw Women’s championship – Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James vs. Nia Jax

The match was quite entertaining. Nia Jax dominated the most part of the match which was obvious. The match was booked for over ten minutes and they kept promoting it throughout the show. At the end of the match, Nia Jax nailed Sasha Banks with the Samoan Drop. As she was about to pin her, Bliss dropkicked her out of the ring and pinned Sasha. The fans were behind Alexa throughout the match.

Winner – Alexa Bliss (New No 1 Contender)

Match 5 – Curt Hawkins vs. Finn Balor

Curt Hawkins was seen inside the first where he threw an open challenge. He was answered by Finn Balor. The match was more of a squash for the Demon King. He pinned Hawkins with Coup De Grace.

Winner – Finn Balor

Bray Wyatt was seen on the big screen where he cut a disturbing promo on his match with Randy Orton for the WWE championship at Payback.

Match 6 – Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro

It was an excellent match up. The match was booked for over ten minutes and it was very entertaining. Jeff Hardy picked up the win after the Swanton Bomb.

Winner – Jeff Hardy

Main Event – Braun Strowman vs. Big Show

The match was really good. The ending of the match was just amazing. Braun Strowman superplexed Big Show and it broke the ring which was a very cool thing to see. We do not such things so often. The ring did not only broken, it completely exploded. It was one of the best moments of this year so far. Fans went really wild seeing this. The match had been called off after this incident. Braun Strowman stood tall at the end as Big Show could not move.
