WWE Raw April 24, 2017 Analysis

Monday Night Raw’s taping of April 24th showcased another boring, lacklustre episode. In our preview section, we told that this is going to be a poor episode, there was nothing much to expect. And as we predicted; the episode was bad.

This week’s episode showed the importance of the involvement of the world champion in a show. No matter what you do, it will all remain so lame without a booking for the world champion.

The only thing that can save a show in such a situation is a good heel faction. But currently, there is no sign of any faction being built. So it looks like we have to swallow this type of poor episodes a little longer.

The only two good things about this episode was the dumpster match between Braun Strowman and Kalisto, and the other one was Alexa Bliss’ promo. There was nothing, and we mean nothing else to see in this episode of Monday Night Raw.

There were a total of eight matches in this show. None of those matches expect Braun Strowman and Kalisto’s one could blow your mind away. The first match of the show was between Matt Hardy and Sheamus. We expected to see a good match but it was booked poorly. You got two of the best of your athletes booked in a match and you showcased an average match? This is certainly not acceptable.

The creative team booked this match to promote their tag team championship match at Payback. Hopefully, it will be a good match. We have a feeling that Cesaro and Sheamus might split up after this match.

Among the other matches, there was only one match that was mentionable; and that was Braun Strowman vs. Kalisto. They booked the match for some fifteen minutes and it presented Strowman as an uncanny unstoppable force. The last time I could remember they arranged a dumpster match was at WrestleMania XIV where the tag team championship was defended in a dumpster match, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie defeated the New Age Outlaws to win the titles in that match. Kalisto picked up a sudden win in this match. This defeat would not offend Strowman’s career much. Strowman’s post match assault on Kalisto was superb. Possibly the best part of the week.

The other good thing about this week was Alexa Bliss’ promo. My god what a promo it was! Sometimes we think Alexa Bliss is even better than AJ Lee on the mic. If she continues to deliver such masterpieces, soon she will become the best ever female mic worker in WWE history.

About the other matches, none are mentionable. Most of the matches are average, some are flat out bad. The starting promo between Chris Jericho, Miz and Dean Ambrose was good. Dean Ambrose cut an amazing promo in this segment. The lunatic fringe is developing every week. Hopefully, we will see him getting even better.

One more thing we need to mention is the six man tag team action where Finn Balor was the opponent for Gallows and Anderson. What the heck is wrong with them? They made the Bullet Club fight each other for no reason? Only a number of days ago, Finn Balor posted a photo of the Bullet Club reunion and they made them fight each other on the very next show? This was really insane, and we must say, it was a horrible booking.

Final Verdict – As we said, it was a poor week. Mostly boring stuff with some good things. Bray Wyatt’s interference in the last match might look good but on paper it was meaningless. I mean, what was the purpose? Like Samoa Joe’s assault on Sami Zayn, it has no meaning. They are trying to build a storyline between Dana Brooke and Emma, but fans seem least bothered about it. Things need to make a little more interesting, just flat feuds are not acceptable anymore.
