Last Monday on RAW, Matt Riddle and the former two times WWE World Champion Drew McIntyre teamed up to take on the evil team of Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci representing Imperium. The unlikely team triumphed over the evil force of Imperium after McIntyre pinned Vinci with the Claymore.
Riddle was facing a difficult time against Imperium for a number of weeks before finally he received help from McIntyre and this week they teamed up to take on the European side. These two wrestlers can go along as a tag team as the fans have started to like them as a team in a very short amount of time.
WWE RAW – Drew McIntyre’s Unexpected Break: Discovering the Real Reason He’ll Be Absent Next Week
After their match last Monday, this new team featured in a backstage segment where McIntyre revealed that he would not be present on RAW next week so Matt Riddle would have to take on Gunther all alone. He also informed that he would be back by the week after the next episode of RAW.
McIntyre did not give any reason behind this upcoming absence from RAW next week. However it had been confirmed that he would be shooting for his upcoming film ‘The Killer’s Game’ which also stars for more WWE legend Batista. McIntyre needed this week off to complete shooting for this big upcoming movie. Here is what Mike Johnson of PW Insider wrote on this matter;
Drew McIntyre Would Not Appear Next Week On RAW
“Drew McIntyre will miss next week’s Raw as he has been cast in a new action film titled “The Killer’s Game”. The film will star Dave Bautista and Ice Cube. The plot of the film is that Bautista is a hired assassin who takes out a contract on himself when he learns he is terminally ill. After learning the diagnosis was incorrect, he has to fight to save his life against everyone coming to collect the contract.”
McIntyre remained out of action for three months following his defeat by the hands of Gunther at WrestleMania 39. There were a lot of speculations about this absence. Media sources also suggest that McIntyre was not happy with the treatment he was receiving in WWE and he would not be back before things get fixed.
He finally made his return at Money in the Bank after Gunther defeated Matt Riddle and retained his Intercontinental Championship. Fans were expecting to see McIntyre to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship after his return. It is also reported that he still did not extend his contract. So we can expect him to feature on the main event scene once again following his contract extension.
