Liv Morgan is heading towards the expected title rematch against Becky Lynch over the Raw Women’s Championship. The upcoming match has been confirmed for the inaugural Day 1 PPV event that takes place on New Year’s Day. However, the challenger might face some setbacks heading into the contest.
WWE has now announced storyline injuries to Liv Morgan. Over on this week’s WWE RAW from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, an angle took place where the RAW Women’s Champion had a physical confrontation with Morgan. It occurred before their rematch was made official for the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view.

The segment ended with Lynch smashing Liv Morgan’s elbow against the steel ring steps. The victim was trying to sell the attack, as much as possible as she was screaming for help. Then the officials came out to help her out after which Lynch declared that she will defend her title against the former Riott Squad member.
In an update, WWE has since announced that Liv Morgan suffered a deep bone bruise and a strained radial collateral ligament in her left arm. It should be noted that this injury is only kayfabe while nothing happened in real during Raw.

Hence, it will be interesting to see if the challenger for the Raw Women’s Title continues with this angle for the next few weeks. It may also lead up to some sort of stipulation for the rematch at WWE Day 1. Previously, Lynch used a handful of tights to retain over Liv Morgan on last week’s RAW. WWE Day 1 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 1 from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
In more news from last night’s Raw, the champion suffered another rare pinfall loss once the TV taping was over. In the dark match main event, Big Time Becks faced Bianca Belair in a non-title match. The finishing sequence saw Bianca pinning Becky clean after hitting the KOD. This might just lead up to a feud between these two in the near future.
Becky also got pinned in the dark main event after last week’s SmackDown where Sasha Banks pinned her in a Fatal 4-Way match that also involved Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair. For the time being, the title match feud against Liv Morgan will continue on Raw.
