Former three times WWE World champion Rey Mysterio who is the winner of the Royal Rumble match of 2006 recently talked about a potential match between him and his son Dominik Mysterio. He spoke on if he would like to wrestle his son.
WWE has constantly teased a feud between the duo since Dominic Mysterio was having a rivalry with Sami Zayn on Friday Night Smackdown. The feud was mostly a one sided dominance where all the matches were won by Sami Zayn.
WWE RAW – Rey Mysterio On If He Would Wrestle Dominik Mysterio
The duo fought in one on one matches almost every week on Friday night smackdown, and each and every week it was Sami Zayn who came out victorious. The feud could not end properly as the Mysterios went to Monday Night RAW as a result of the draft.
But this feud teased a possible feud between father and son. Somehow it was shown most of the times that Rey was responsible for the defeat of Dominik. Some bad bloods were also shown between the father and son as well. Clearly that used a future feud between Rey and Dominik.
Even though Dominik Mysterio previously cleared that he does not want to fight with his father. They have already made history when they won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team championships to become the first ever father and son Tag Team Champions in the history of WWE.
If the feud between Rey and Dominik would take place, it would not have been the first ever father-son feud in WWE. Previously there was a father-son feud, and it took place two decades ago. It was the famous feud between Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon that took place in 2001. Their match at WrestleMania X-Seven is still considered a classic.
Their was even a father vs daughter feud in WWE which took place just two years after Vince McMahon vs Shane McMahon feud. The father vs daughter feud was between Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon. After that such a feud was never seen in WWE. Rey Mysterio versus Dominic Mysterio could have been the first such feud after 2003 if took place.
Rey Mysterio who is the winner of the Royal Rumble match of 2006 recently spoke to TV Insider where he talked about a potential match between him and his son Dominik Mysterio. He spoke on if he would like to wrestle his son. He said;
“Once I saw his career take off and see his growth and became so attached to him. It made me want to wrestle him less. It’s something as a father I couldn’t see myself doing. It’s very different when we step in the ring during training where we are wrestling each other.
“We go hard. I think in front of a crowd. I think I would be very weak when it comes to trying to hurt my son. It’s something I never see doing. I hope it never happens.”
