WWE Raw/Smackdown has been dealing with a lot of issues and one of them being the brands getting out with the star powers. Whenever a big occasion arrives, the company had to bring back the so-called legends/Hall of Famers to make things up. The tradition just goes on and on while the storytelling perspective of WWE also gets thinner.

Apparently, though, WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon does not believe “anything is wrong” with the current WWE Raw/Smackdown product, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsder.

In a recent Q&A session, Johnson mentioned how McMahon has “a billion reasons” to avoid any sort of criticism dictated by the fans or the wrestling media outlets. He’d rather be happy with the way WWE has hit a new milestone of more than $1 billion in revenue last year for the very first time.

“In his mind, he doesn’t think anything is wrong,” Johnson stated in his report. “The company made a billion dollars last year, so there’s a billion reasons for him to shrug off any criticisms. We are told he pushes and presents what he likes and wants and nothing else makes a dent in that vision. That’s why the shows are presented the way they are and that’s why nothing is going to change anytime soon, if ever.”

WWE Raw/Smackdown is bringing bigger profits

WWE as a company is racking up more profits, and the idea of quantity over quality is winning for the time being. But the important thing is that McMahon doesn’t have any problem with the current standard of product they’re offering on WWE Raw or Smackdown.

“In 2021, we reached a significant milestone of over $1 billion in revenue, for the first time in the Company’s history,” Vince McMahon recently stated on the investors call as WWE’s 2021 Q4 financial results was declared. “We ended the year with strong performance across each of our business lines that reflected the engagement of a wider audience with distribution on new digital platforms, including Peacock, and the return of fans at our live events.”

Some of the wrestling veterans like Jon Moxley have already declared that the problem lies with McMahon himself. He continues to move forward with the low-standard story-telling on WWE Raw/Smackdown. and seems to be okay with it. Rather than improving it, The Boss is focused on TV ratings and growing the business utilizing part-timers which may not benefit the company from a long-term perspective.
