WWE Raw came up with a couple of big-time announcements for the WWE Day 1 PPV and for the next episode. It appears that both the reigning male and female champions of the red brand now have their next title defenses set.
Seth Rollins opened last night’s WWE RAW episode and revealed that he will be challenging WWE Champion Big E for the title at Day 1. The potential red brand main event match for the upcoming PPV has then been altered into a Triple Threat.
Seth Rollins was walking in a backstage segment when Kevin Owens approached him and gave him the news that per Adam Pearce’s ruling, if he can beat WWE Champion Big E in a non-title match, then he will be added to the title match at the Day 1 event.
WWE Smackdown: Brock Lesnar’s Return Officially Announced For December 3
Kevin Owens then defeated WWE Champion Big E via DQ after Seth Rollins attacked Owens in the non-title bout on WWE Raw. As per the stipulation of the match, it will now be Big E vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship on January 1, 2022, at the Day 1 pay-per-view.
As of now, this Triple Threat is the only match announced for the inaugural 2022 PPV event. As announced earlier, this New Year’s Day event on Saturday, January 1, from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia will serve as a replacement for WWE TLC which was removed from the WWE calendar for the first time since 2009.
WWE Raw Women’s Title match announced
Next week’s WWE RAW from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee will have a RAW Women’s Title match on the card. In a contract signing segment from last night, Liv Morgan vs. RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was announced for the December 6 edition. WWE Official Sonya Deville announced the title match after officiating the contract signing segment.
Liv Morgan became the new number-one contender to Lynch when she won a Fatal 5 Way over Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Queen Zelina Vega and Carmella on the November 8 WWE RAW edition.
Last night, Liv also led her team (Belair, Ripley, Nikki A.S.H., and WWE 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke) to victory in a 10-woman tag team action against the team of Lynch, Carmella, Vega, Doudrop, and Tamina Snuka.
