Buildups for WWE Royal Rumble 2022 have heavily begun from this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. The first edition of WWE’s flagship show took place from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina which confirmed the dream match in Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship in a dream match.
Royal Rumble 2022 also confirmed the already speculated “The IT Couple vs. The GRIT Couple” match where WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix will take on The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag team contest. Plus, the show also announced the first set of entrants for the 30-man Rumble match which generally serves as the main event for the annual PPV event.
WWE Royal Rumble 2022: GrIT Couple vs. IT Couple Match Announced
Over on Raw, we got a backstage video with Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio announcing their Royal Rumble spots. Rey said that they are an unstoppable duo. Another tag team duo, The Street Profits – Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins also featured in a video package on the show as they announced their spots for the 30-Man Royal Rumble 2022 Match. They were apparently up and ready for the smoke.
In another backstage segment, WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon is backstage was seen on the phone when Austin Theory walked in. Vince stated that he didn’t tell Theory to come in, he just asked who was at the door. Theory apologized and stated that he only came to ask about his rematch to Finn Balor.
Vince says it doesn’t matter because he lost to Balor, but he did then beat the holy hell out of Balor. Vince admired that quality in him to always find a way to beat someone. Vince then told Theory to take a seat and announced that Theory will be in the 30-Man Royal Rumble 2022 match and if he wins, he will go on to main-event WrestleMania 38 against the champion of his choosing.

The Royal Rumble 2022 will take place on January 29 from The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. To date, five superstars have been announced for the Men’s Rumble match. Check out the updated card for the PPV,
