Roman Reigns has a date with Brock Lesnar at Summerslam main event. The bout is all set to take place over the Universal Championship. It is going to be their fourth one-on-one contest over a prestigious title.
They had already met at Wrestlemania and Greatest Royal Rumble earlier this year. The champion defended successfully on both the occasions.
It led us to believe the WWE might not want Roman Reigns anywhere near around the Universal Championship picture. But that turned out to be completely false.
Apparently, the backstage belief is that he is the only guy in the locker room who could defeat Brock Lesnar via clean pin. So they did not hesitate to book the match one more time.
Numerous speculations are going on about how this match would go down at Summerslam. Majority of the fans do believe that Roman Reigns will win the Universal Championship for the first time in his career. It is why he had received another shot to the title against the beast incarnate. But as always there might be a shocking twist in the tale.
Bryan Alvarez discussed the potential outcome of the match on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. He mentioned how Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman is playing mind games on Roman Reigns for the past few weeks. It should automatically generate sympathy for the ‘Big Dog who runs this yard’.
It hints to a potential quick finish of the match where Roman Reigns squashes Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. But there are also some discussions going on about keeping the match long enough. It would be the lengthiest time the Universal Champion will spend inside the ring in recent times.
Currently, the officials are considering both the ways. Check out Bryan’s comments via NoDQ.com,
“Right now there are apparently two ideas for the Lesnar/Roman match. One of them is a rather short match. And the other is – you guessed it – a long match. By long I mean one of the longer matches Brock has ever had since he’s been in the company. I guess they’ll decide which one is best on the day of the show.”
Brock Lesnar is the biggest attraction on any show in the WWE. So he spends only a minimum amount of time inside the squared circle. We will see whether this tradition changes at Summerslam. The rumour mill is going busy to find out the outcome of this match for now. Hopefully, Universal Championship changes hands to make the fans happy.
